You know you're in Singapore when. . .

. . . your can of evaporated milk has a recipe for deep fried squids on the back.

I guess, if you're Singaporean, you might eat your squids whilst talking about stuffs or studying your maths.

Uh, was that last line a reference to Singaporean slang (putting an "s" on the end of words)?

I'm wondering what evaporated filled milk was?

Would that be fortified with vitamins?

Hmm. Interesting, those squids. I wouldn't think of putting "filled milk" with "squids" at all. :o)

As your comments point out, the weirdness of this can has many different levels.

There is the putting an s on the end of a word that isn't pluralized. I don't know if it is exactly a Singaporean/Singlish quirk to pluralizes non-count nouns or if it is just an Asian thing. I'm thinking it not unique to Singapore since I encountered this same thing in San Francisco about a year and a half ago. Perhaps you remember the post I did on my other blog call "No MSGs". . . in case you don't, you can check it out here:

And, who knows what filled milk is. . . I certainly don't!! But it tastes and looks like regular evaporated milk, so whatever it is filled with must not be too weird.

It is weird to expect a certain genre of recipe (like caramels or fudge) and then end up with a totally bizarre food like "deep fried squids".

Correcting Sleeping Habits to Grow Taller
According to studies, a person’s sleeping habits have a direct effect on his lack of height. Remember when our mothers say that we should have enough sleep else we won’t grow? Well, it turned out that they were right, and it is not just a myth that is used to scare us. People who sleep only three to four hours every night are not likely to grow any taller.
Research proves that if a person remains lying in bed for several days, he would gain at least one full inch. However, once the person goes back to his regular activities, his height would go back to normal. It is not useless information, because it proves that as the backbone relaxes, the pressure on the disc is removed, having fluids enter the gap therefore lengthening a person’s height. Nevertheless, this expansion in the backbone can be retained and maximized with exercise. Go to http://www.growth-flex.com/
A combination of proper rest and exercise is therefore crucial in order to gain a few inches off your original height. In order to get a full rest, a person is required to sleep at least eight hours a day. This means eight straight hours. The body must also rest in a flat and firm and is able to give the whole body full support. This means you can’t sleep on the couch, not only because it is uncomfortable, but also because your back won’t rest in the proper position.
Growth enhancement programs also require a person to take products that can speed up growth such as Growth Flex V Pro system. Visit here at http://www.growth-flex.com/ .
